The Christian faith has gone through much controversies and divisions as it relates to the "Trinity Doctrine."
I would like to however use this medium to briefly address this issue. (I will also in the near future post a more comprehensive response as an article).
Firstly, I want to openly declare that the word trinity is not a biblical word, but please note that the principle is deeply biblical. It is not to promote three gods, because God remains One.
The biblical manifestations of God is what is now widely called The Trinity Doctrine. This is due to the fact that the bible presents us with three clear manifestations of God:
1. God (The Father)- first manifested Himself as the Creator of the heaven and the earth. This is seen in the book of Genesis and other parts of the old Testament.
2. God (The Son)- then manifested Himself in the coming of Jesus the Christ. Jesus' coming is that of the Messiah to save His people (the world) from their sins.
3. God (The Holy Spirit) - then manifested Himself as Comforter for all God's people. The Holy Spirit's manifestation was seen first in the book of Acts and His presence is daily with us to enable our Christian stewardship.
So in brief, God manifested Himself as:
1. God the Creator and Source
2. God the Christ and Saviour
3. God the Comforter and Sustainer.
Please look for the article that will be posted.
